Following a change to the Rules of the Association in 2009 the Committee is able to invite academics who are in a full time academic teaching or research post and whose field of teaching or research consists primarily of Chancery work to become Academic Members of the Chancery Bar Association (providing they are not in independent practice at the Bar of England and Wales).

Academic members are invited to speak at Chancery Bar Association seminars and conferences and, when appropriate, their views are sought when the Association is responding to consultation papers.

Members of the Committee are enthusiastic about promoting greater contact with universities and their students and are always happy to speak to university students about a career at the Chancery Bar.
