The Queen has been pleased to approve that The Honourable Mr Justice Peter Henry Gross and The Honourable Mr Justice Stephen Miles Tomlinson be appointed as Lords Justices of Appeal with effect from 9 July 2010, following the appointment of The Right Honourable Sir John Dyson as a Justice of the Supreme Court on 13 April 2010, and the retirement of The Right Honourable Sir Mark Waller on 6 May 2010.

Biographical Note

The Honourable Mr Justice Peter Henry Gross (58) was called to the Bar (Gray’s Inn) in 1977 and made a Bencher in 2000. He took Silk in 1992, and was appointed as a Recorder in 1995 and a Deputy Judge of the High Court in 1999. He was appointed a Judge of the High Court (Queen’s Bench Division) in 2001, served as a Presiding Judge on the South Eastern Circuit between 2004 and 2008 and was appointed as a legal member of the Special Immigration Appeals Commission in 2009.  He served as Judge in Charge of the Commercial Court from October 2009 until July 2010.

Mr Justice Gross was knighted in 2001.

The Honourable Mr Justice Stephen Miles Tomlinson (58) was called to the Bar (Inner Temple) in 1974 and made a Bencher in 1990. He took Silk in 1988 and was appointed as a Recorder in 1995 and a Deputy Judge of the High Court in 1996. He was appointed a Judge of the High Court (Queen’s Bench Division) in 2000.

Mr Justice Tomlinson was knighted in 2000.
