BAR CONFERENCE 2008

This year's conference, to be chaired by Michael Todd QC, Chairman of the Chancery Bar Association, has, as its theme,

Multinationalism and Multiculturalism - Tomorrow's World? 

The keynote address will be given by Lord Bingham of Cornhill and there is to be an open forum debate with a panel comprising:

  • Lord Neuberger of Abbotsbury
  • The Rt Hon Baroness Scotland QC, Attorney General for England and Wales
  • Sir Konrad Schiemann, Judge of the European Court of Justice
  • Justice Edwin Cameron, Judge of Appeal in the Supreme Court of Appeal, South Africa.
There will be a number of specialist workshops and the Chancery Bar Association, a sponsor of the conference, is presenting a workshop organised by Joanne Wicks of Wilberforce Chambers, under the title "Equity Reflects Core Values which Transcend Cultural Differences" with a debate to be chaired by Lord Neuberger of Abbotsbury and a panel comprising Francis Barlow QC, Zia Bhaloo, Catherine Newman QC and Eason Rajah.
