The Chancery Division, in conjunction with the Chancery Bar Association and the Judicial College, is holding a series of seminars on topics which have been selected to be of interest to the judiciary and profession generally, and in particular to those appointed to sit as deputy High Court judges.
The SECOND of these seminars will again take the form of presentations followed by a general discussion. The main topic will be a subject close to our hearts:
The summary assessment of costs
We are fortunate to have as speakers Master Marsh, Chief Chancery Master, and Master Gordon-Saker, Senior Costs Judge, who will aim to cover the following:
- Summary assessment after an interlocutory hearing
- Summary assessment after a trial, including a trial in the shorter trials list
- The effect, if any, of a costs management order on a summary assessment
- The effect of assessing costs on the indemnity basis as opposed to the standard basis.
Time permitting, it may be possible for our speakers to touch on costs management generally
It will last approximately 1 hour and drinks will be served at 6.30pm.
Please could you let Francesca Compton know via email whether or not you will be attending this seminar by Friday 12 February 2016. Places are limited and will be on a first come, first served basis.
