1st January 2017 - CPD requirements are changing
BSB's new CPD regime - from January 2017
Roadshows start from 4 October in London, Bristol, Leeds, Birmingham, Manchester and Cardiff.
CPD requirements for barristers are changing. From 1 January 2017, the summary of changes is as follows:
- You will no longer have to complete a minimum number of hours;
- You now have individual responsibility for what training you require;
- There is no longer a requirement to complete accredited hours;
- You have increased flexibility in the types of CPD activities that you can complete;
- The BSB will assess whether you have planned and completed your CPD in a structured way;
- Assessments of current CPD compliance will be made by taking into account your CPD activity in previous years; and
- The role of the BSB supervision team in setting Corrective Action for non-compliance has been formalised. This means that the focus on the regulation of CPD will not be on disciplinary action but on ensuring that you comply with the CPD requirements.
