New Judicial Assistants Scheme

The schemes for judicial assistants at the Rolls Building came to the Association’s attention last year when COMBAR launched a pilot scheme for judicial assistants for commercial court judges funded by COMBAR members.  The Association took issue with the principle of the funding of judicial assistants by the profession. After consultation with the judiciary, the Bar Council, COMBAR and the ChBA, the Chancellor of the High Court, the President and the Vice President of the Queens Bench Division have announced the replacement of all existing judicial assistant schemes with a new government funded scheme for judicial assistants across all three divisions of the High Court.  The application process for new judicial assistants for the legal year commencing October 2019 will begin in April 2019.  The announcement can be found by clicking here.
