Notice of the Annual Meeting 2018

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN THAT THE ANNUAL MEETING OF THE CHANCERY BAR ASSOCIATION

will be held on:

WEDNESDAY, 4 JULY 2018 at 4.30pm

PARLIAMENT CHAMBER, INNER TEMPLE, LONDON EC4Y 7HL

For the purpose of:

1. Noting the Minutes of the 2017 Annual Meeting.  Copies will be available at the meeting.
2. Receiving the results of the election of Officers and ordinary members of the Committee for the coming year.
3. Receiving a report from the Chairman.
4. Receiving a report from the Treasurer.
5. Receiving, considering and (if thought fit) approving the accounts for the period 1 January 2017 to 31 December 2017.  Copies of the accounts will be available at the meeting.
6. Noting the unchanged subscriptions for the year 2019 (£130 for London Members, £80 for Regional Members).
7. Considering the proposed resolution to deal with the identified surplus of the Association’s General Account in the manner set out at paragraph (A) of the Schedule hereto.
8. Any other business (at the discretion of the Chairman of the meeting).

Schedule

(A) It is hereby RESOLVED that £26,000 out of the Association’s General Reserve be allocated and paid as follows:

1. As to £10,000 to be set aside for the establishment and ongoing support of the Social Mobility initiative to be undertaken by the Chancery Bar Association;
2. As to £4,000 to be donated to the Bar Pro Bono Unit;
3. As to £4,000 to the Barristers’ Benevolent Association;
4. As to £4,000 to the Free Representation Unit;
5. As to £4,000 to LawCare.
