Professional Client Access
Barristers may be instructed either on behalf of clients or on their own account for all types of work by:
- solicitors;
- other authorised litigators;
- parliamentary agents, patent agents, trademark agents and notaries;
- European lawyers registered with the Solicitors Regulatory Authority;
- employed barristers and/or European lawyers registered with the Bar Council; and
- legal advice centres designated by the Bar Council.
Licensed conveyancers may instruct barristers on this basis in matters where they are providing conveyancing services. Barristers may instruct other barristers on their own account only.
The work of the Chancery bar still mainly comes by the traditional route of instructions from solicitors.
