Fair Recruitment: Breakfast Brainstorm
The E&D Committee warmly invites members to an informal breakfast discussion (with tea, coffee, and pastries) to exchange ideas and practical approaches for promoting fair recruitment at the Chancery Bar, and encouraging applications from under represented groups. Although the Bar Council’s report for the 2025/2026 recruitment round has not yet been published, the 2024/2025 report can be read here (with a summary of the Chancery statistics at p.50).
Many chambers are already doing impressive work in this area, united by a shared goal: ensuring that bias and unfairness do not stand in the way of appointing the strongest pupillage candidates. This breakfast offers a valuable opportunity to learn from one another’s experience, share what worked well in the most recent recruitment round, reflect on what could be improved, and help shape better, fairer selection practices across the Chancery Bar.
We hope you will join us for what promises to be a constructive and worthwhile conversation. Please click here to sign up.
The event is open to all (including clerks), and attendance is particularly encouraged from those involved in the pupillage process at their respective chambers.
