Cayman Trainee Placement Scheme: 2026/27

Student applications for places commencing before 31 March 2027

The Chancery Bar Association and the Cayman Islands Legal Practitioners Association are pleased to announce that applications by Caymanian articled clerks for placements in Chancery Chambers in England and Wales commencing before 31 March 2027, will open to students on 22 June 2026.

The Chambers who are members of the Scheme are set out below:

The placements are governed by the terms of the Framework Agreement entered into by the above Associations and Society in May 2014.   Student’s attention is particularly drawn to paragraphs to 10 to 23 (inclusive).

Cayman articled clerks may apply to up to 3 sets of chambers for a 12 week placement - PLACEMENTS MADE BE SPLIT BETWEEN TWO CHAMBERS.  Each application should be completed on a separate form and all forms returned, completed and scanned, by e-mail to admin@chba.org.uk.  Forms must be received by 5pm (GMT) on Monday 6 July 2026.  The Form that is used should be that found at the top of this page.

Applicants are also asked to complete and send in with their application(s) a Diversity Monitoring Form (again found above) though this is not compulsory.

Offers by Chambers will be made by 5pm (GMT) on 16 July 2026 and must remain open for acceptance until 5pm (GMT) on 23 July 2026.

Acceptances must be notified to Chambers and the ChBA by 5pm (GMT) on 23 July 2026.

If necessary, a clearing process will then operate to try to match any unsuccessful applicants with Chambers.

Any acceptances under the Scheme will be subject to the agreement of the ChBA and the Legal Advisory Council of Cayman.

The proposed timetable is as follows (but subject to change):

• Cayman Trainee Applications open 22 June 2026
• Cayman Trainee Applications close 6 July 2026
• Offers from UK Chambers to Cayman Trainees by 16 July 2026 (offers to be open until 23 July 2026)
• Acceptances by Cayman Trainees by 23 July 2026
